Dr. Kate Niederhoffer
Kate Niederhoffer is an experienced researcher and startup entrepreneur focused on incorporating social science in technology and applying natural language processing techniques to conduct research. She currently runs Circadia Labs which uses multidisciplinary methods to study the language in dream reports and identify cues to social and mental health. Her overall research program centers on the psychology of language in social interactions spanning conscious (advice, social media) and unconscious (dream reports) corpora. She completed her doctorate in Social Psychology at the University of Texas, developed the methodology for one of the first social media monitoring platforms, BuzzMetrircs (acquired by Nielsen, 2006), and is the founder of Sooth, a mobile application that helps people work through everyday situations with the anonymous advice of peers, family and friends.
